Kooyong House

Completed: In Production

This residential project explores the intersection of sculptural architecture, refined detailing, and natural materiality to create a home that feels both grounded and elevated. The interiors are defined by warm timber linings, integrated joinery, and a calm, minimalist aesthetic. Expansive glazing frames views of the surrounding landscape and draws in natural light, while curated pendant and wall lighting brings softness and rhythm to the space. A sculptural cast in situ concrete spiral staircase forms the architectural heart of the home, acting as both a functional connector and a striking design element. Custom banquette seating, built-in storage, and tactile finishes—including stone, leather, and timber—highlight a commitment to craftsmanship and considered design.

Externally, the home’s curved masonry forms wrap around intimate garden courtyards and transition into a bold rear elevation that opens to sweeping views of the valley. The material palette of textured brickwork, raw concrete, and blackened steel lends both durability and elegance, while a cantilevered balcony and full-height sliding doors promote seamless indoor-outdoor living. Every element has been designed with attention to proportion, light, and flow, resulting in a residence that is at once sculptural and serene—tailored to its site and deeply attuned to the lifestyle of its inhabitants.
